The Diploma of Higher Education in Notarial Studies (DESN) is a university program resulting from the merger of the professional and academic tracks following the reform introduced by Decree No. 2022-1298 of October 7, 2022. The DESN provides access to the profession of notary. It consists of a two-year university program following completion of a Master 2 degree, during which students alternate between study and work experience in a notary's office as trainee notaries.
Students who have obtained a Master's degree in Notarial Law accredited by the National Institute for Notarial Training (INFN) are automatically admitted to the DESN. For students who have obtained another Master's degree in law, admission to the DESN is subject to selection by a national commission each year in the spring. For information on submitting applications and registration procedures, please contact the INFN teaching site to which you wish to apply.
The DESN program is offered under an agreement between the Grenoble Law School and the INFN in Lyon. Classes begin in January for the first term and are held at the Dauphiné Interdepartmental Chamber of Notaries (Seyssins). The diploma is awarded jointly by the University of Grenoble Alpes and the INFN in Lyon.
