Committed students

In accordance with the framework established by the UGA, the Faculty of Law recognizes and values your commitment through the status of committed student.

Who can benefit from the status of committed student?

  • Students who volunteer for the army or military in the operational reserve.
  • Volunteer firefighters.
  • Working students (minimum contract of 3 months, minimum 10 hours per week). The contract must cover periods of educational activity (weeks of classes and exams).
  • Students performing civic service.
  • The active members of an association's board.
  • Guardians (parents )

What study accommodations are available?

Theattendance in continuous assessment and final exams remains imposedHowever, upon presentation of supporting documents, the Faculty of Law strives to propose accommodations in the following cases:
  • If the time slot for a tutorial is not convenient, students are advised to submit a request to change groups at the beginning of the semester to the registrar's office.
  • In the event of a one-time absence from a tutorial due to the commitment, an exemption from failure may be granted subject to the provision of proof of absence. The request must be submitted to the registrar's office. Students must also contact their tutorial instructor so that a continuous assessment grade can be determined in the event of absence from an assessment.
  • Students who are unable to meet the attendance requirements of the standard ( in-person) program may enroll in distance learning.

Bonus

The students volunteers in the army or military in the operational reserve, the volunteer firefighters, students undertaking a civic service and the officers of an association receiving a grant from the Faculty of Law may obtain a bonus awarded by the Faculty of Law.

The students involved in an association but not eligible for the bonus awarded by the Faculty of Law can register for the ETC " Community and union involvement " to recognize their commitment (for more information on this ETC, click here).

The same activities can only give rise to one validation per training cycle (bachelor's degree program, master's degree program). The bonus does not apply to students who are employed or who have dependents.

How do I apply for student status?

Two campaigns are offered per year (campaign 1: for the year or the first semester / campaign 2: for the second semester).
An application form, available online, must be completed.
